The 42nd Annual Sedona St. Patrick’s Parade & Festival

The 42nd Annual Sedona St. Patrick’s Parade & Festival – an Arizona Centennial Celebration, will take place along Jordan Road in Uptown Sedona on Saturday, March 3rd. A St. Patrick’s Festival immediately follows with live music and entertainment, free children’s activities, food booths and beer garden. These festivities are free to attend, presented by Sedona Main Street Program with the Green Team and NAU Parks and Recreation Management Program.

2012 Lectures Series – Celebrating Arizona’s Centennial Everyday Scenes of Hopi Life

Everyday Scenes of Hopi Life will be presented by Dr. Robert Breunig, Director of the Museum of Northern Arizona. This presentation will cover a pictorial overview of Hopi life in the early twentieth century, detailing village life and farming, and featuring photographs by Kate Cory. This lecture will take place at the Sedona United Methodist Church, 110 Indian Cliffs Road in Sedona.

Red Rock State Park “Geology Hike
March 18th, 2012 at 2:00 pm
Red Rock State Park March is filled with Fun Events in Sedona, ArizonaJoin a volunteer on a guided geology hike on the second Sunday of December to learn why the rocks are red, where they came from, where they are going, and more. This hike includes the Eagle’s Nest Trail for a great view of the Park and surrounding area. It is more than a guided hike! It is an interpretive experience for the beginner as well as advanced geologist, lasting two to two-and-a- half hours, with a 250 feet elevation climb.

Verde Valley Archaeology Fair “Learn about archaeology through exhibits, demonstrations and lectures”
March 24th & 25th, 2012
The Verde Valley Archaeology Fair is a new event with its inauguration during Arizona Archaeology Awareness Month in March 2012. The Fair features exhibits, demonstrations, a “archaeology for kids” area, and an International Archaeology Film Festival featuring archaeology documentaries from Germany, France, Brazil, Latvia, Australia and the United States. The Fair will include an American Indian Art Show.

Learn about ancient Indian cultures of the Southwest by watching demonstrations of, and getting hands-on experience with, ancient technologies, including making fire by friction, weaving yucca fiber sandals, firing pottery, throwing with atlatls, and flint-knapping. Taste traditional foods including piki bread, parched corn, acorn stew, and others. Enjoy watching the Yavapai Apache Bird Dancers and Gourd Singers perform. See over 1,000 beautiful petroglyphs. $5.00 Red Rock Pass or equivalent entrance fee required per vehicle.
