Best Western PLUS Inn of Sedona
“Good Eats” at the Mesa Grill
We have a lot of families that come to stay with us here at the Best Western PLUS Inn of Sedona, so we are always looking for great places to send them for a meal where the parents can relax, eat some remarkable food, enjoy a great view and the kids can, well, just be kids. With that in mind I would like to tell you about the Mesa Grill at the Sedona Airport.
Three of my friends and I went to the Mesa Grill on Wednesday, with two children. Everyone in the car loved the drive up airport road where the views of Sedona red rocks are downright incredible, especially at sunset! And all of us, especially the kids, love to watch the planes and helicopters arrive and depart.
This night at the Grill there was live entertainment. The restaurant was jammed packed and everyone was enjoying the food, spirits and music. They have indoor and outdoor dining, but it was a little chilly this night so we opted to be seated indoors.
They are definitely family friendly and were more than happy to bring out hot dogs and fries before our meal to keep the boys busy. The boys also enjoyed being able to color during their meal, which kept them entertained and occupied.
We ordered drinks and appetizers. They carry a variety of wines and beers. We ordered the calamari which to our delight was crisp with 2 wonderful dipping sauces. We also ordered the crab cake which was delicious!
We ordered a variety of entrees. I had ravioli with Veal Osso Bucco and steamed vegetables. I really liked their personal touches, making it different than just plain old ravioli. Elisa had a ribeye, which was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful, an absolutely wonderful cut of meat. Mike had the eggplant parmigiano with penne, a wonderful, tantalizing dish. It was an unexpected pleasure to meet the owner, Marc. He came over to our table to see how we were all enjoying our meal. The service was great, the view was incredible, the kids were happy and each meal came with generous portions jammed packed full of flavor!
As far as the atmosphere goes, it is a relaxing environment with a contemporary setting. You will not feel crowded here no matter how busy they are. The restaurant is open and airy, with expansive windows that look out onto the airport and the red rocks of Sedona. And we also found out while we were there that their delightful outdoor patio was pet friendly, something that is very important to our guests that are traveling with their pooches!
