Troias Good Eats Troia’s Old World Italian Restaurant in SedonaI absolutely adore Troia’s Old World Italian Restaurant. Sam and Rosanne Troia have owned and operated it since 1997, about the time I moved to Sedona. Not only are they the sweetest couple ever, and will treat you like their own children, Sam uses family recipes, some over one hundred years old, that his grandma brought over from Italy decades ago.

It was my dad’s birthday, so my brother, his girlfriend and I wanted to treat him with a stellar Italian dinner fit for royalty. It was his special day and we knew he would enjoy it.

My dad orders the same entree every time; spaghetti with sausage and meat sauce. The sausage has a kick, cooked to juicy perfection and the plate was overflowing with sauce and al dente pasta.

My brother is also stuck in his ways, ordering his ‘usual’, chicken alfredo. Troia’s could quite possibly have the best cream sauce ever known to man, in my humble opinion. I don’t know how they do it, but it’s consistently well prepared.

We ladies, however, had a very difficult time deciding what was going to be the most delicious choice for us. We both went with the evening special; four Portobello mushroom ravioli with a ridiculously good red pepper cream sauce. It was a more than filling portion, just perfect.

If we hadn’t had cake at home, we would have indulged in desert, as we normally do. The selection of desserts and after-dinner drinks are just perfect to round off that amazing dining experience.

What I love about Troia’s is that the atmosphere is formal, yet the dress is casual. The ambiance, positive vibes, friendly staff, and great food are the things that bring me back time and time again.

If you haven’t tried Troia’s yet, you most certainly should!
