The Sedona’s First Friday Gallery Tour receptions and exhibits give locals and Sedona visitors alike the opportunity to enjoy light refreshments while beginning their weekends with an exploration of Sedona’s exciting art scene.
Below you will find a few of the exhibits and receptions taking place during the First Friday Gallery Tour, to see a full listing of participating galleries please visit the Sedona Gallery Association. For your convenience, the Sedona Trolley provides free transportation to venture from art gallery to art gallery. We also offer our guest free shuttle service to uptown Sedona and the Tlaquepaque Arts and Craft Village. All of the exhibits and artist receptions for 1st Friday run from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

“Inner Visions and Fired & Wired”
This New Year brings extraordinary new works to Sedona Arts Center’s Fine Art Gallery’s first and largest exhibit of the year, “Inner Visions” in Uptown Sedona from January 4th- 29th, 2013. The excitement continues with “Fired & Wired” the annual student exhibition and sale from January 4th- 6th, 2013, featuring Gretchen Lopez’s painting students and Dennis Ott’s ceramics students’ works. Experience a memorable First Friday January 4th from 5pm to 8pm for the opening reception, where you can mingle with artists, art lovers and collectors.
“A New Beginnings”
” A New Beginnings” features the artwork of gallery artists who capture the essence of hope that the New Year brings. This evocative show explores the diverse manner in which art is used to captivate, awe and inspire us. Artists Sherab Khandro, Karyl Bennett, Lynn Rae Lowe, and Marilyn Bos are among the artists whose inspiring work will be featured in this unprecedented show. Also featured sculptured metal bells by emerging artist Doug Adams. Refreshing Beverages will be served, Live music by Frost and Frost.

“An Artful Journey” at Rowe Fine Art Gallery
Russia-born Nicolai Medvedev temporarily put aside the lapis and malachite in favor of bronze after taking some sculpting classes taught by Ken Rowe at the Sedona Arts Center. Rowe Fine Art Gallery, which is owned by Ken, is the only gallery to represent Nicolai’s exotic wildlife sculptures. Be one of the first to see this extraordinary artist’s work during “An Artful Journey,” part of the Sedona Gallery Association’s 1st Friday Gallery Tour. Nicolai will be on hand to answer questions and meet art lovers.

“Realism from the American West” at Mountain Trails Galleries
Mountain Trails Galleries’ first show of the New Year features figurative paintings by Brigitte Woosley, Steven Lang, Nicholas Coleman, George Molnar, Marcia Molnar, E. Manning Crook, Vicki Catapano, Wei Tai, and Larry Riley. To complement the figurative paintings, trompe l’oeil still lifes by Western artifact collector Lisa Danielle, plein air paintings by Betty Carr and Bill Cramer, as well as bronze sculpture inspired by the history of the American West by Vic Payne, Dustin Payne, and Michael Trcic will bring all the themes and historic moments to life. Come view these artists’ latest works and enjoy libations and lively conversation at both Mountain Trails Galleries in the beautiful village of Tlaquepaque, Suite A-201 upstairs by the creek and Mountain Trail Gallery West, Suite B-122 in the courtyard of the Restaurant Rene.

New Year: New Art
The brand new year is celebrated with showcases of brand new art in the heart of Sedona’s Gallery district. Two of the most established galleries in town, Lanning Gallery and Turquoise Tortoise Gallery, both located at Hozho, unveil new art and new artists at their opening receptions during “1st Friday”. These exhibitions, “New Art for the New Year,” have become annual showcases for the two sister galleries and both invite visitors to usher in 2013 surrounded by beauty and creativity – while enjoying champagne and chocolates too!

Let the party continue the Saturday after New Year’s Eve with the January 5th Jerome Art Walk. Take the convenient shuttle throughout the town to visit 25 galleries and studios from the Old Jerome High School up the mountain to the new member gallery of The Miner’s Pick Rock Shop beside the lovely Surgeon’s House on Hill Street.
