Looking for something fun and different to do with Mom this Mother’s day weekend? Has your Mom shown interest in geology, bird watching or getting out in nature? If you answered yes, then Red Rock State Park is the place for you and Mom to be this weekend. Red Rock state park will be offering a “Guided Bird Walk” taking place on Saturday, May 11thth at 8:00 am, a “Guided Geology Hike” this Sunday, May 12th at 2:00 pm, and a Guided “Nature walk” every day at 10:00 am. Anyone can take their Mom to brunch, but you can give her the gift of exploration!

Guided Bird Walk – 05/111/13 (8:00 am)
Meet up with other bird lovers at the visitors center and enjoy a leisurely stroll through one of the most popular parks in Northern Arizona . Bird enthusiasts can join a naturalist for a “Guided Bird Walk”. Beginners as well as advanced birders are welcome. Rangers recommend that visitors bring their own binoculars. A limited number are available for loan from the Park.
Guided Geology Hike – 05/12/13 (2:00 pm)
It’s more than a guided hike. It’s an interpretive experience for beginners as well as advanced geologists. Spring is perfect to join an experienced guide who leads a hike focusing on the area’s geology. You will learn why the rocks are red, where they came from, where they are going, and more. The hike includes the Eagle’s Nest Trail for great views while also learning about the geology. The hike lasts two to two and a half hours and has a 250 feet elevation climb. A knowledgeable guide will explain the rock formations that create the scenic backdrop of Red Rock State Park.
Guided Nature Walk – Everyday (10:00 am – 12:00 pm)
Red Rock State Park gives you the opportunity to join a naturalist and go on a guided nature walk where you will learn more about the riparian ecosystem of Oak Creek and other aspects of the Park. Plants, wildlife, geology, history and archaeology are some of the subjects that may be discussed. Please feel free to ask questions, all the guides at the park go out of their way to answer questions and love for you to be involved in the conversation. The walk last one and a half to two hours.
