Before you know it Oak Creek Canyon will be filled with vibrant colors, hiking won’t just be for early mornings and Sedona will be a buzz with some very special events and hikes.

With that in mind we wanted to create an events guide to help you plan your Sedona vacation this fall. Keep in mind that September and October are very busy months in the red rocks of Sedona and the Verde River Valley, you will want to make your hotel and tour reservations early. If you would like to stay at our Sedona hotel this fall we recommend making reservations as far in advances as possible.

Sedona’s 27th Annual Moonlight Madness Event

This free event is coordinated by Sedona Main Street Program and presented by area businesses. Red Rose Inspiration For Animals – “Ride For Rescue”

Geology Hike at Red Rock State Park

Hike leader Chris Weld will help you to learn why the rocks are red, where they come from, where they are going … and more. This hike includes the Eagle’s Nest Trail for a great view of the Park and surrounding area. More than a guided hike, it’s an interpretive experience for beginners as well as advanced geologist. Guided Moonlight Hike at Red Rock State Park

Moonlight hike 2013 Fall Events Guide for Sedona and the Verde ValleyThe Moonlight Hike is among the most popular interpretive hikes at the Park. Led by a naturalist, it gives hikers the rare opportunity to enjoy the sunset and moonrise from an overlook and return by the light of the moon, while also having the chance to learn about Sedona and its surrounding areas. Verde Valley and park history, as well as archeology, geology, botany, and riparian wildlife information, is offered. The hike lasts two to 2 1/2 hours and covers a distance of approximately two miles. Rangers ask hikers to arrive approximately 30 minutes before starting time to insure participation. No late arrivals can be allowed and reservations are required! When you call 928-282-6907, the arrival time will be given.

Festival 2013 Fall Events Guide for Sedona and the Verde ValleyThe Verde Valley Archaeology Center recognizes the Native American heritage of the Verde Valley with an annual American Indian Art Show for artists from throughout Arizona and the Southwest. The event promotes greater public appreciation and understanding of Southwest American Indian artistry, encourages artistic achievement in a variety of media and establishes a stronger market for American Indian art. This is a juried invitational show to ensure high quality, hand-made art. This year they will be inaugurating a new event. On September 28th, at 7:00 pm, they will host the Canyon Record Artist Showcase featuring GRAMMY-nominated Radmilla Cody and NAMA Artist of the Year Tony Duncan. 23rd Annual Sedona Arts Festival
