Best Western PLUS Inn of Sedona
Having fun when it’s raining in Sedona
All of us here at the Best Western Plus Inn of Sedona wish that it could be sunny and clear every day for our visitors to red rock country, but the truth is we have some days during the monsoon season where rain is just going to happen. So, what do you do for fun when it rains in Sedona? Long hikes are definitely not going to happen unless you are a diehard hiker, so with that in mind we have asked our friends, family and staff what their favorite things to do in the Sedona area are when rain is hitting the red rocks!
Photographing the weather in the red rocks
Photographing the red rocks during monsoon season hit high on the list of fun things to do. Of course you wouldn’t want to hit the trails during a heavy rain, but during monsoon season there are plenty of moments during a storm with very light rain.
“I love taking pictures in Sedona during the monsoon season, the rain does a great job of polishing up those beautiful red rocks and the storm clouds make for a dynamic backdrop! Two of my favorite place to catch some stormy weather shots would be the parking lot for Bell Rock Pathway, the balcony of the Inn of Sedona, and the balcony right next to Starbucks at Hyatt Pinion Pointe”- Lisa Peters
Taking in a movie at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre
Many of the people who visit Sedona do not know very much about the Sedona International Film Festival and the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. You will find some great flicks showing year round at the theatre.
“Last week when we visited Sedona we thought our vacation would be dampened by the rain, however a friendly woman at the front desk told us about the theatre. We happen to love independent films and where excited to have something to do during the storm that we truly enjoy. We ended up seeing “Blackfish”. We will be back to Sedona next summer and even if it is not raining we will make sure to catch whatever is playing at the theatre.” – Susan T.
Exploring the Galleries of Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village
When the rain is coming down one of our GMs favorite places to go is Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village.
“I love walking around Tlaquepaque during the rain, their are so many galleries and unique shops to explore, great places to eat and the covered walkways allow me to enjoy the smell and beauty of the rain without getting drenched” – Elizabeth McIntire
Broken Arrow Pink Jeep Tour
Okay this might not be for everybody but we have one staff member that doesn’t mind getting a little wet while having a blast!
“There is nothing better than going down the “Road of no Return” on the Broken Arrow tour with Pink Jeep, it is that much better if it is raining! Pink Jeep Tours have the safety of their guests in mind, so I am very comfortable touring with them in the rain! If it is safe to go play in the rain… they go!” – Front Desk Manager Saara
Live Entertainment in Sedona
There is always some form of live entertainment to be found in Sedona and there is always something happening at Olde Sedona Bar and Grill. From Karaoke to live music, this is one of our staff’s favorite local places to go!
All in all , I guess what we are trying to say is; don’t let a rainy day ruin your vacation! You can find plenty of fun things to do and our concierge is always here to help you find a way to enjoy every kind of day in Sedona!
