From bird and nature walks, to a survival workshop, to a Guided Geology Tour, to a special presentation featuring Jim Turner “For God, Gold, and Glory: The Coronado Expedition”, this will be a fun month at the park!

Red Rock State Park – Guided Bird Walk

Meet up with other bird lovers at the visitors center at 9:00 am and enjoy a leisurely stroll through one of the most popular parks in Northern Arizona . Daily Nature Walk
Nature walks 2014 March Events at Red Rock State Park in Sedona, ArizonaEvery Day at 10:00 am
you can join a naturalist for a guided nature walk of one and a half to two hours. You will be introduced to the riparian ecosystem of Oak Creek and other aspects of the Park. Guided Geology Tour
March 9th, 2014 (1:00 pm)
Red Rock State Park 2014 March Events at Red Rock State Park in Sedona, ArizonaRed Rock State Park is located at the base of the Mogollon Rim, the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau. Over millions of years of erosion the rim has receded over four miles leaving behind the picturesque features of Sedona. Join Red Rock State Park’s knowledgeable volunteers as they venture out on our trails and discuss how Sedona transformed into what we see today. This is an interpretive experience for both the beginner and experienced hiker, lasting between 2-2 ½ hours and an elevation gain of 250 feet. Please bring water and wear suitable footwear. Big 5 Survival Priorities with Tony Nester
March 1st, 2014 (8:00 am – 4:00 pm)
Have you ever wondered what to do if you were lost and had to spend the night in the wild unprepared; Or maybe how you can prepare yourself for a similar situation? Join us on March 1st for a daylong survival class with nationally known Tony Nester. Tony will be covering the “Big 5 Survival Priorities”. This class will cover shelter, emergency fire-making, water location, signaling and survival kits. Space is limited to 15 participants, so call ahead to reserve your spot. For God, Gold, and Glory: The Coronado Expedition
March 30th, 2014 (2:00 pm)
Red Rock State Park is pleased to present “For God, Gold, and Glory: The Coronado Expedition” featuring speaker Jim Turner. Francisco Vasquez de Coronado entered Arizona with the largest European expedition know to North American history in 1540. Though the exact route through Arizona is unclear, historians have entertained the idea for years. Join us as Jim Turner leads us on a virtual tour through images by famous artists, maps, scenic and historical photographs, and archeological remains from one of Coronado’s campsites.
