It is going to be a beautiful Easter weekend in Sedona, AZ! If you are going to be visiting the red rocks over the holiday with the kids and are looking for some family fun with the Easter Bunny, there are three events taking place that the Easter Bunny is sure to attend! The Celebration of Spring: Carnival and Egg Hunt taking place at Posse Grounds Park on Saturday, March 26th,  the Verde Canyon Railroad’s Easter Bunny Express in Clarkdale on the 27th, and in Sedona on Easter day, the Shops at Hyatt Piñon Pointe have a special treat with the Easter Bunny appearing from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm in the shops for an Easter Egg Hunt and photos, there will also be a delicious brunch taking place at Sound Bites Grill  from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm with Eric Miller performing live from 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm!  Below you will find the highlighted Easter events taking place, and other fun things to do this weekend in the red rocks!

V Bar V Ancient Technology Discovery Days
March 25th – 26th, 2016
VBarVGain a new appreciation of how native people survived and thrived as you see demonstrations of fire by friction, flint-knapping, making and firing pottery, ancient tool technology, spinning and weaving cotton and making shell and stone beads. Practice your skills of using an atlatl, making pinch pots and grinding corn on a metate. Learn about how native people used some of the area plants for food and medicine and see over 1,000 petroglyphs. Red Rock Pass or equivalent entrance fee required per vehicle. The V Bar V Heritage Site is located 2.8 miles southeast of Interstate 17 at Sedona exit 298, just beyond the Beaver Creek Day Use area. Red Rock State Park – Guided Bird Walk

HOME_653Bird enthusiasts can join a naturalist for a “Guided Bird Walk”. Beginning as well as advanced birders are welcome. Rangers recommend that visitors bring their own binoculars. A limited number are available for loan from the Park. No matter the time of day, visitors can check out the many birds who make Red Rock State Park their home. The bird-feeding area behind the visitor center, on the Hummingbird Patio, is an excellent spot to start your tour or to take pictures.For more information on this Sedona hike please visit Red Rock State Park.

Celebration of Spring: Carnival and Egg Hunt
Event Location: Multi-use Field at Posse Grounds Park
March 26th, 2016 (9:00 am – 12:00 pm)
$5 for Children 12 & Younger
Sedona Carnival and Egg HuntThis is much more than just an egg hunt, this is a Celebration of Spring! This fun, action packed event is for families and all those in the community that enjoy spring and the beautiful outdoors. Once you arrive, walk to the Posse Grounds Park lower softball field for entrance onto the multiuse field for games and vendors! Inflatable toys for kids, petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, carnival rides and much more are included with the $5 admission fee for the youth attendees. Some vendors may be charging for their goods. The official egg hunt will begin at 10:00 a.m. for children 8 years of age and younger (parents will only be allowed to search with age group 2 and under). Watercolor Workshop: Spring Flowers

springAre you interested in learning some basic tricks to watercolor painting? Red Rock State Park will be hosting Cathy Stedman for their ongoing series on the basics of watercolor painting. This will be an introductory to intermediate class. The series will cover the basics to watercolor painting-providing instruction and techniques with a theme each month. Our March theme will be Spring Flowers. Cathy Stedman, a Sedona local, has been teaching watercolor since 1997. Space is limited to 12 participants, so call ahead to reserve your spot. The workshop reservation fee is $50.00, which includes park admission, instruction, and all supplies or $40.00 with your own supplies. Please bring your own lunch. Shops at Hyatt Piñon Pointe And Sound Bites Grill Brunch
March 27th, 2016
Easter 2016This year the Hyatt Shops have a special treat with the Easter Bunny appearing from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm in the shops for an Easter Egg Hunt and photos, and Sound Bites Grill’s Brunch will be going on from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm with Eric Miller performing live from 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm. If you are a guest of the Best Western PLUS Inn of Sedona, and are planning to visit the Easter Bunny and attend the delicious brunch offered at Sound Bites, take advantage of our Complimentary “About Town” Shuttle. Guided Ethnobotany of Sedona Hike

Learning more about the native plants and trees here in the Sedona area is a great way to enhance any hike! Join Jim Charest as he explains how plants were used for various reasons by local indigenous cultures and by people in our contemporary times. This interpretive experience is for both the beginner and experienced hiker, lasting between 2-2 ½ hours with an elevation gain of 250 feet. Please bring water and wear suitable footwear. This once-a-year opportunity to hob-knob with the wascally wabbit begins with face painting on the patio so everyone can star in a look-a-like photo. You can take home proof that the Easter Bunny really does exist. The honorable hare will dole out handfuls of treats and armloads of hugs before bidding farewell to everyone on the train as it departs at 1:00 pm!
