Festival of Lights, The lighting of 6,000 Luminarias!

Festival of lightsA cherished tradition, the lighting of six thousand luminarias in Tlaquepaque’s courtyards and walkways, takes place this coming weekend on Saturday, December 13th. Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village is always a beautiful place to visit, but when the luminarias are lit it is a wondrous sight to behold. This is one event you really don’t want to miss!

The Festival of Lights will start at 3:00 pm and offers various entertainment throughout the day (see below for the entertainment line-up). The lighting of the luminarias will begin at 5:00 pm. Specially designated luminarias honoring cancer survivors can be purchased in advance for $10.00 by calling 928.282.4838. You can ride the free trolley from the Uptown Municipal Parking lot to Tlaquepaque with continuous service from 3:00 pm – 8:30 pm. If you are a guest of the Best Western PLUS Inn of Sedona we will be happy to drop you off and pick you up from this event in our complimentary “About Town” Sedona shuttle.

Entertainment Schedule

    Ron Tolson & Bryan Pace with fill the Chapel with traditional holiday music
  • 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm
    Award Winning flutist Sherry Finzer will perform in the Chapel
  • 3:00 pm – 5:30 pm
    Santa Claus will be making a special visit to Tlaquepaque in Patio Del Norte and Tom & Shondra will entertain with holiday songs.
  • 3:00 pm – 5:30 pm
    Ritmo Latino will mesmerize you in Patio De Las Campanas
  • 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
    Paul McDerman on steel drums is sure to put everyone in the holiday spirit in Patio De Las Rosas.
  • 5:00 pm
    Everyone joins in lighting the 6000 luminarias.
  • 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
    Jonathan Levingston, award winning violinist, will perform in the Chapel.
  • 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
    Don’t miss the enthusiastic and powerful performances of the River of Life Tabernacle Choir, a long-time Festival favorite in Plaza De La Fuente
  • 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
    You ‘ll be dancing and singing with the Swingtips in Patio del Norte
  • 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
    Listen to jazz rhythms with The Giant Steps Jazz Combo in Patio de las Campanas.
