Sedona Gallery AssociationVisit Sedona, Arizona this coming weekend, explore the galleries and attend some of the artists receptions at the 1st Friday Evening in the Galleries event! These special art receptions and exhibits give locals and Sedona visitors alike the opportunity to enjoy light refreshments while beginning their weekends with an exploration of Sedona’s exciting art scene. Below you will find a few of the exhibits and receptions taking place during this event, to see a full listing of participating galleries please visit the Sedona Gallery Association. On Saturday, make sure to head up to Jerome, Arizona for the Jerome Art Walk.

Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village
Fine Rowe Art Gallery – Leap into summer at Rowe Fine Art Gallery
Ken and Monica Rowe, owners of Rowe Fine Art Gallery, are ready to “leap” into the warm-weather season with a summer soiree! Come take a peek at one of the gallery’s newest – and most charming – sculptures, local artist Kim Kori’s “Leap for Joy.” The bronze features two toads playing leapfrog among slick river rocks and cool green reeds. The evening will also feature wine, appetizers and the ideal opportunity to see what’s new at Rowe Gallery.

Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village
Mountain Trails Galleries: Cowgirls Forever!
Mountain Trails Galleries, Suites A-201 & B-122 in Tlaquepaque, opens a new exhibition of painting and sculpture that pays tribute to the “Spirit of the Cowgirl”! Receptions will be in both Tlaquepaque locations from 5:00 -8:00 pm. A group of lively painters and sculptors join together to kick off the stampede of outstanding artwork. Featured are new paintings by Bonnie Conrad, Suzanne Baker, Vicki Catapano, Lisa Danielle, Betty Carr, Maria De’Angelo, as well as Marcia Molnar, who all reveal the hard work and dedication it takes to be authentic in the subject matter. New sculpture by Sandy Scott and Susan Kliewer who come from a long line of ranchers round out the celebration.

“New Perceptions”
The Sedona Arts Center proudly presents “New Perceptions”, featuring another month of the remarkable talent of local artists: Sid Freeman (Mixed Media), David Griggs (Photography), Heather Kinkade (Fine Crafts), Jim Peterson (Photography), Virginia Rinehart (Photography), Chris Saper (Oil), Steve Simon (Oil), Pat Stacy (Mixed media), Ramona Stites (Oil), Lyn & Ken Mikell (Ceramics). This month’s exhibit offers a creative variety of styles and mediums. There surely is something for everyone this month at Sedona Arts Center!

Lanning Gallery
“3 Men: Wood,Bronze & Wire”
The Lanning Gallery is pleased to present “3 Men: Wood, Bronze & Wire” featuring Robert Cherry, Chris Deverill and Phil Lichtenhan. All three men create art objects; the work of all three is uniquely creative; and each has a winning personality that promises to make for a terrific opening reception.Robert Cherry hand-turns and hollows vessels of pine, finished so finely as to look like glass.Chris Deverill creates bronze animal sculptures with a distinctive wit in their elongated forms, capturing with precision the nature of each animal he creates. Phil Lichtenhan is an accomplished artist of wide-ranging talents who uses myriad types of found wire to fashion birds’ nests of strikingly authentic design.
