Turquoise Tortoise Gallery
“Sedona in Summer”
August 7th, 2015 (5:00 – 8:00 pm)

SHARON WEISER Desert-Blooms-36The Turquoise Tortoise Gallery offers a new mid-summer exhibition that celebrates summer and the artwork that embodies its warmth and spirit. In other parts of the country Black-eyed Susans or sandy beaches may be the epitome of summertime but in Arizona it’s the blooming cacti and the wearing of cool turquoise stones that characterize the season. Visitors to Turquoise Tortoise Gallery are treated to summer-hued cactus compositions by artist Sharon Weiser whose popular, award-winning oil paintings bring together agave and beavertail, barrel and fishhook, with blooms or not, in hues that push forward every shade the eye doesn’t even know that it sees. For more information please visit the Turquoise Tortoise Gallery.

Lanning Gallery
“Summer in Sedona”
August 7th, 2015 (5:00 pm – 8:00 pm)
Summer in SedonaThe Lanning Gallery opens a new exhibition to showcase art that embodies all that we love about the hot summer months. The showcase of art begins with the ubiquitous bird nests of early summer. Sculptor Phil Lichtenhan mimics nature itself foraging for found wire and other materials. Painter Cynthia Reid creates bird nests as well, small oil paintings that capture the beauty and strength of these natural homes. As a complement to Reid’s Impressionism it is Expressive Realism that best describes the landscapes of painter Gerald Moore. Summertime is also the perfect time for sculptor Robert Cherry to unveil a red-hot new coloration for one of his hand-turned pine vessels with turquoise inlay. And summer is made all the better with hand-turned turquoise beads by master jeweler Michael Grant. For more information on this Sedona event please visit the Lanning Gallery.
