Turquoise Tortoise Gallery
“Independent Spirit”
Turquoise GalleryAt Turquoise Tortoise Gallery it is the Native American artists who take center stage this month. Of course, Independence Day didn’t hold the same meaning for everyone in America back in 1776 so we salute those Native American descendants whose artistry still captures an indomitable sense of their ancestors’ independent spirit – yet with a modern viewpoint, patriotism and pride. For more information please visit the Turquoise Tortoise Gallery.

Pieces such as those by Stan Natchez add in red, white and blue beadwork to traditional imagery over backgrounds of actual U.S. currency, while even the gallery’s exquisite jewelry collection allows for the reds of coral, the whites of opals and the navy of lapis (along with the many blue shades of turquoise).
