Kick start your New Year off exploring the galleries of Sedona, Arizona and Jerome! Check out the artists and new exhibits during Sedona’s First Friday Gallery Tour on January 6th and the Jerome Art Walk on January 7th!

For your convenience, the Sedona Trolley provides free transportation to venture from art gallery to art gallery. If you are staying at the Best Western PLUS Inn of Sedona, we also offer our guest free shuttle service to uptown Sedona and the Tlaquepaque Arts and Craft Village. All of the exhibits and artist receptions for 1st Friday run from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Visit the Andrea Smith Gallery during the first weekend in January to see the unusual collection of hand-made jewelry Gary & Andrea brought back from their sacred journey to Bangkok, Northern Thailand and Burma. You will find Ganesha rings, turquoise buffalo band rings, elephant bracelets, necklaces and rings made of jade and semi-precious stones. In Sedona, Arizona Turquoise Tortoise Gallery opens its first exhibition of the New Year, “New Traditions.” Highlighted is new art that celebrates age-old traditions of the Southwest and Native America. Half a dozen artists and jewelers are spotlighted including acclaimed sculptor Larry Yazzie who just delivered “Prayers to the Great Spirit,” a bronze combining elegant Contemporary lines with Traditional detail. “A New Year Begins”

Highlights include “Moonlight Vines,” a new line of cold-forged sterling silver neckpieces, cuffs and earrings by award-winning jewelry artist Valerie Ostenak. Ostenak’s forged steel jewelry has already won her a Centurion Emerging Designer Award; she was one of six recipients from an international field. Ostenak has again been invited to “Artistar Jewels,” an invitational art jewelry exhibition in Milan, Italy, that she will attend this February. Let the party continue the Saturday after New Year’s Eve with the January 7th Jerome Art Walk. Take the convenient shuttle throughout the town to visit 25 galleries and studios from the Old Jerome High School up the hill to newest addition of Jan Sullivan at The Funky Side Studio in the UVX Building and right near the lovely Surgeon’s House on Hill Street. The lively gallery group welcomes Ann Metlay in The Old Jerome High School with her wonderful studio, Adrift Assemblages. Be sure to visit Robin Anderson and Margo Mandette, also in The Old Jerome High School.
