Red Rock State Park – Guided Moonlight Hike
June 2nd, 2015Moonlight hike (6:30 pm)
The Moonlight Hike is among the most popular interpretive hikes at the Park. Led by a naturalist, it gives hikers the rare opportunity to enjoy the sunset and moon rise from an overlook and return by the light of the moon, while also having the chance to learn about Sedona and its surrounding areas.The hike lasts two to 2 1/2 hours and covers a distance of approximately two miles. Reservations are required, please call 928.282.6907 to reserve your spot. A $5.00 reservation fee is required as well as an entry fee upon arrival. Star Night Party at Red Rock State Park

RERO_StarPartyCome out and enjoy the night skies with the Astronomers of Verde Valley and the Rangers of Red Rock State Park in Sedona! An introduction presentation at 7:30 pm will show current sky events and what’s “up” in the spring skies. The planets Jupiter and Venus will provide views of our near neighbors and Saturn will make a brief appearance as the viewing session ends at 10:00 pm. There will also be a craft project available for children during the presentation as well as space cookies, moon juice, and other complementary beverages.This program will require a $5.00 reservation fee per person prior to the event in addition to the park’s admission fees. Red Rock State Park – Guided Bird Walk
Every Wednesday and Saturday Morning (7:00 am)
HOME_653Bird enthusiasts can join a naturalist for a “Guided Bird Walk”. Beginning as well as advanced birders are welcome. Rangers recommend that visitors bring their own binoculars. A limited number are available for loan from the Park. No matter the time of day, visitors can check out the many birds who make Red Rock State Park their home. Daily Nature Walk
Nature walksEvery Day at 10:00 am
you can join a naturalist for a guided nature walk of one and a half to two hours. You will be introduced to the riparian ecosystem of Oak Creek and other aspects of the Park. Red Rock State Park Lecture Series
The World of the Permian Period

Red Rock State ParkDon’t miss “The World of the Permian Period” featuring Dr. Kennard B. Bork at Red Rock State Park. The Permian ended with the greatest extinction event in the history of the planet. Our session will look, in brief overview, at the Earth during that fascinating time. Dr. Kennard B. Bork taught geology, with a concentration on the history of the Earth and its life forms, for many years. His Ph.D. is in Geology, specializing in paleontology. Please call ahead to reserve your space; the program is included within the Park’s admission fees: $5.00 per adult (14 and up), $3.00 per youth (7-13), and free for children (0-6). Watercolor Workshop: Flowers

Red Rock State Park will be hosting Cathy Stedman for their ongoing series on the basics of watercolor painting. This will be an introductory to intermediate class. The series will cover the basics to watercolor painting-providing instruction and techniques with a theme each month. their March theme will be flowers. Space is limited to 12 participants, so call ahead to reserve your spot. The workshop reservation fee is $50.00, which includes park admission, instruction, and all supplies or $40.00 with your own supplies. Please bring your own lunch.
