What a great weekend to visit Sedona, Arizona and the Verde Valley, especially if you love exploring the arts! This weekend kicks off with an exploration of art at Sedona’s First Friday Gallery Tour on May 6th, 2016. And then on Saturday evening the town of Jerome will be holding their “Art Walk”.

For your convenience, the Sedona Trolley provides free transportation to venture from art gallery to art gallery. If you are staying at the Best Western Plus Inn of Sedona, we also offer our guest free shuttle service to uptown Sedona and the Tlaquepaque Arts and Craft Village. All of the exhibits and artist receptions for 1st Friday run from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

“Walking in Beauty”
May 6th – 31st, 2016

 Sedona Arts Gallery is featuring five local artists in this May’s themed show Walking in Beauty. The show combines photography, jewelry, acrylics, fiber and ceramics. Christie Palmer creates atypical paintings that are a cross between landscape and abstraction. Local Sue Horine has been creating her bead embroidered art jewelry since 2005. John Foster changed his artistic medium for creation to clay in 2011 by starting classes at the Sedona Arts Center. A very special book signing by Julie Gilbert Pollard is also scheduled as part of the May show. Stop by the gallery on May 12th from 5pm – 7 pm to meet Julie and purchase a signed copy of Discover Oil Painting while enjoying refreshments and a gallery of art by local artists.For more information please visit the Sedona Arts Center.

Johnathan Harris and Howard Hitchcock

Lanning Gallery in Sedona, AZ opens a new exhibition to showcase both the landscape paintings of pure, unrestrained color by Johnathan Harris and the evocatively clever bronze sculptures by Howard Hitchcock. Forget Me Not Fundraiser at Rowe Fine Art Gallery
May 6th, 2016 (4:00 pm – 8:00 pm)
What happens to injured or ill wildlife in Arizona? Many animals wind up at rescue and rehabilitation organizations such as Runnin’ W Wildlife Center in Cornville and Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center in Scottsdale. Bronze wildlife sculptor and gallery owner Ken Rowe has worked closely with both nonprofits. Rowe Fine Art Gallery will host Forget Me Not, a fundraiser benefiting the two organizations. Representatives from Runnin’ W and SWCC will be on hand to answer questions. Animal ambassadors from both centers will greet art lovers during the show. Ken has created a sculpture especially for the occasion, and it will make its debut at the fundraiser. Also titled Forget Me Not, the bronze depicts a bobcat kitten surrounded by delicate forget-me-not flowers. Andrea Smith Gallery Presents Debbie Clemens “Highest Angel” Collection

Possibly best known as wife of Roger Clemens, Debbie Clemens has made a name for herself in Sedona with her very popular jewelry line. Best seller Metatron is the highest angel, and includes everything God has created in one sacred geometric shape. The chakras (made of Swarovski crystals) are important because they create harmony and balance. In Sedona, Arizona Turquoise Tortoise Gallery welcomes Baje Whitethorne, Sr. and hosts the esteemed Navajo artist at an exhibition opening to showcase his work. Visitors can meet Whitethorne and learn more about the rich sense of story conveyed in each of his paintings. No matter where he lives Baje Whitethorne, Sr. considers the vast Navajo Reservation where he was born his home. His family still has land there with a peach orchard and a collection of houses. It is land where stories remain for a very long time and Whitethorne draws on these for his paintings, portraying the stories’ sense of subject, place and memory.
