Starlight Tours Return to the Verde Canyon Railroad

Starlight Tours at the Verde Canyon Railroad

2015 Tour Dates: May 30th, June 27th, July 25th, August 29th and September 12th

Grape Train Escape 510x337 Starlight Tours Return to the Verde Canyon RailroadAll Aboard! Verde Canyon Railroad has announced the return of their very popular Starlight Tours! The first tour of the season will take place on May 30th!

The Starlight tour offers you a totally different perspective of the Verde Canyon. The train departs the depot at 5:30 pm. As it rumbles through the Canyon, the low slant of sun bathes the high cliffs in soft golden hues and the wildlife that call the canyon home begin to stir as the cooler temperatures of the evening approach. I highly suggest visiting the open air cars often during the night journey into the canyon, especially when the train reaches its turn-around point at Perkinsville. The sun is usually setting around this time lighting the sky with a brilliant pallet of colors. On the ride back to the station enjoy the canvas of stars that blanket the canyon.

The Verde Canyon Railroad offers passengers two unique options for these magical evening rides:

  • The Grape Train Escape
During the Starlight Tours, “The Grape Train Escape” is only offered in first-class! Each Escape focuses on a select wine-producing region, and each vintage is paired with appetizers that complement the wine.
  • Tequila Sunset Limited
The Tequila Sunset Limited has evolved from south-of-the-border shots to sophisticated and sensual sipping of premium tequilas paired with delectable cheeses, Ceviche, Margarita cake and infused chocolate-covered peppers. This is just a sliver of the evening’s event, all prepared and served in first-class comfort.

For more information or to purchase passage aboard the Starlight tours please visit the Verde Canyon Railroad.  The Starlight Tours will take place on – May 30th, June 27th, July 25th, August 29th and September 12th! The Verde Canyon Railroad is located in Clarkdale, Arizona, only a 25 minute drive from Sedona. Other than Saturday Starlight Tours, trains depart at 1:00 pm. and return at 5:00 pm. Reservations are accepted at 800.293.7245 or online at Verde Canyon Railroad.

ZenProv Comedy Live at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre

Zenprov Comedy: Far Out Man!

April 25th, 2015

FarOutMan teaser ZenProv Comedy Live at the Mary D. Fisher TheatreIf you are going to be visiting Sedona, Arizona this weekend and love to have a good laugh, you do not want to miss a funny trip into the past when Zenprov Comedy presents “Far Out Man — A laugh back at the 60s & 70s.” This one-night only performance happens Saturday, April 25th, at 7:30 pm at the Mary Fisher Theatre in Sedona. Tickets are only $15 at the door.

“Zenprov is the best comedy troupe in Arizona,” said Mr. Patrick Schweiss, Executive Director of the Sedona International Film Festival. “People were laughing so hard their cheeks were hurting.”

If you’ve never attended one of their live performances before, Zenprov Comedy is similar to the popular improvised TV show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” The troupe performs fast-paced games and scenes created in the moment—always based on audience suggestions. Unlike sketch or standup comedy, nothing is rehearsed or prepared ahead of time. Best of all, it’s never the same show twice.

One of the games has an actor reading lines from an original “Brady Bunch” TV script while the other actors must justify what is said to help the scene make sense in a totally different context, such as a job interview or working at Starbucks. Another game includes twisted version of “The Dating Game” except the bachorlettes might be Timothy Leary, Janis Joplin and Richard Nixon.

Opening for Zenprov will be special guest musician Michael Fridley, who will be performing mash-up medley of different songs from the 60s and 70s expertly woven together.

For more information or to purchase tickets to this live show please visit the Sedona International Film Festival. If you are a guest of the Best Western PLUS Inn of Sedona we will be happy to drop you off and pick you up from this event in our Complimentary “About Town” Sedona Shuttle!
