Sedona Entertainment: Jennifer Batten
Lead guitarist for Michael Jackson for over 10 years
November 5th, 2016 (7:00 pm)
Tickets: $25/$35/$45
sface2-4Jennifer Batten–Michael Jackson’s Lead Guitarist, returns to Sound Bites Grill! She was lead guitarist for Michael Jackson for over 10 years—including three of his world tours. She played guitar on two of Jeff Beck’s world tours. Who is she? She is Jennifer Batten. The buzz on Jennifer Batten rose from the guitar underground, and the guitar magazines promptly began chronicling her savvy musicianship and highly original approach to the electric guitar in print. At one point Batten was in 6 different bands, playing everything from straight ahead rock, to metal, fusion, and funk. A major turning point came when she was selected from over one hundred guitarists to play in Michael Jackson’s highly skilled band which toured the world for one and a half years playing for over four and a half million people. Jennifer wasted no time after the” Bad” Tour’s grand finale, diving into work on her own album with renown producer (and Stevie Wonder guitarist) Michael Sembello. The stunning results can be heard on “Above, Below, and Beyond”, the title appropriately describing the interesting diversity within. With this debut release, the world at large learned what all the excitement was about. For more information or to purchase tickets to this Sedona event please visit Sound Bites Grill.

hereafter-teaserWhere’s that spooky laughter coming from? Look no further than Zenprov Comedy’s “Laughter from the Hereafter” at The Mary Fisher Theater in Sedona. Zenprov Comedy has been compared to the Drew Carey TV show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” where experienced improvisers perform fast-paced comedic scenes created in the moment based on audience suggestions. Unlike sketch or standup comedy, nothing is scripted or rehearsed beforehand. “Halloween is our favorite time to perform because there is so much to work with. Getting up in front of an audience with nothing prepared is scary. Adding a few monsters and corn-syrup candies, and it gets very frightening, very funny, very fast” said Derek Dujardin, the troupe’s director. Fall Tours at the Verde Canyon Railroad

Fall Colors Tour on the Verde Canyon Railroad

October – November 2016

vcr

The monsoon season has been active in the Verde Valley and Sedona which means the “Fall Colors Tour” on the Verde Canyon Railroad is spectacular this year! This Fall excursion into the Verde Canyon is absolutely one of our all time favorites! Passengers on the Verde Canyon Railroad are treated to a gentle ride through a high-walled canyon painted in an array of vibrant autumn hues that shimmer and change around every curve in the track.

“The peak of the fall colors in the Verde Canyon depends on temperature, sunlight, and rainfall amounts. Timing can vary each year and can never be predicted exactly, however, passengers can generally be assured of viewing brilliant colors October through Thanksgiving, with the colorful climax reaching its peak during early November. Reservations should be made early, as this is a very popular time.” – Verde Canyon Railroad

October and November bring crisp nights followed by warm sunny days beneath a sky achingly and endlessly blue. Be sure to keep a sharp eye peeled for wildlife. Sightings of deer, javelina, coyote and other species increase this time of year and migratory birds return to the sanctuary. You definitely do not want to forget your camera!
