“Monsoon Madness” at Rowe Fine Art Gallery
August 5th, 2016 (5:00 pm – 8:00 pm)
TimelessRowe Fine Art Gallery’s distinguished painters are inspired by the desert Southwest’s landscape and wildlife, both of which rely on the renewing rains of summer’s monsoons. This month, Rowe Gallery celebrates the return of the summer storms with Monsoon Madness, a show that highlights new works by gallery painters. “As an Arizona native, this is one of my favorite times of the year,” says gallery co-owner Monica Rowe. “There’s nothing quite like the sensory experience of a summer storm – the billowing clouds, a flash of lightning, the sound of a clap of thunder and the smell of wet sage and chaparral. Our painters have a way of capturing all four seasons of the desert Southwest, so this show seemed like the perfect tribute to the drama of art and nature.” For more information please visit Rowe Fine Art Gallery.

Jackie Venson Live in Sedona, Arizona

Sound Bites Grill in Sedona, AZ

Singer Songwriter “Jackie Venson” Live

August 5th, 2016

maxresdefault-1-500x281If you are going to be visiting Sedona, AZ on Friday, August the 5th, and love Indie Blues you will not want to miss the Austin-based singer, songwriter, and musician Jackie Venson sizzling up the stage at Sound Bites Grill! She will be performing as a trio in the Sound Bites Grill Celebrity Show Room and tickets are only $10 in advance and $15 at the door! The show kicks off at 7:00 pm so make your plans today and call 928.282.2713 to purchase your tickets or visit www.soundbitesgrill.com. I know I am not going to miss it!

It is legend that a blistering Jackie Venson guitar solo knocked Pluto straight out of planetary …

Jackie Venson is well known for her blues guitar with her gorgeous, smoky voice. In June her band had the opportunity to perform on Austin City Limits, the longest running music series in American television history, one of the most exciting and successful music festivals in the United States, and an award-winning concert venue.

Venson’s “…astonishing mix of raw soul, superb musicianship and laid back grace…” (Austin American Statesman, June 2014) has been compared to the likes of Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse and fellow Austin native Gary Clark, Jr. Originally a classical pianist, Jackie picked up the guitar, shortly after graduating from Berklee College of Music, and made the giant leap from the tradition of classical music to the raw and gritty blues.

Enthralled with music since the age of 8, this young singer/songwriter/musician instantly captures your attention with a vibrant musical soul and passionate control of her instruments that reach far beyond her tender age. As she mindfully blends Blues, Rock, R&B, Soul and more, with her introspective lyrics, the message is clear. When you’re listening to Jackie you hear the “Truth in Music”.

In recognition of her dedication to her craft, Bestfan.com said “Venson is no dilettante, wannabe performer, however a real staple of what a musician can achieve when they put in their 10,000 hours for both musical schooling, and late night pub sessions for practical honing.”

Her live performances revisits what makes music so powerful: emotion and passion. She thrives without the flash, instead favoring a clean sound, genuine soul, and meaningful connection with her audience. Music is not only what Venson does – but also defines who she is and reminds her where she wants to be: performing.

Having finished her second tour of Europe and the recent declaration of “Jackie Venson Day” (May 21st) in the “Live Music Capital of the World” Austin, TX, and her performance on Austin City Limits on June 22nd there’s no doubt she has every reason to lead the way with the trademark smile that accompanies her magnificent musicianship.

Things to do when it rains in Sedona, AZ

Best Western Plus Inn of Sedona

Things to do when it rains in Sedona, AZ

MonsoonsMonsoon season is upon us in the beautiful red rocks of Sedona, AZ. While it is true Sedona can see some heavy rains during monsoon season, they very seldom last the whole day. This is the dessert, so we are happy to see the rain, but often our guests and visitors are not. Who could blame them? I would rather be out hiking in the red rocks too! The rains during monsoon season normally hit us in the afternoon or early evening, which is another reason we suggest hiking adventures in the early morning… but then what? The number #1 question we get during this season is; ‘what is there to do when it rains?’

Cinema at the Mary D, Fisher Theatre

Get out of the rain and enjoy a flick at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre!  Home of the Sedona International Film Festival the theatre features independent films, award winning documentaries, live entertainment including Zenprov Comedy and more, all year long! This state-of-the-art theatre is locate at 2030 West Highway 89A. To see what’s playing and who’s performing while you are in town visit the Sedona International Film Festival online. If you are a guest of the Inn of Sedona, let us do the driving. We will be happy to drop you off and pick you up when you are ready to return to the hotel.

Like we have said before, it’s very seldom that the rain lasts more than a couple of hours. Sometimes it only hangs around for about 30 minutes.  We highly suggest grabbing your camera and heading out after the rain. The red rocks are even more majestic after the washing. You might even catch a rainbow or two arching over the formations. I will have to admit, when the rain is gentle and there is no lightning in the sky you can often find me on the Red Rock Scenic Byway (SR 179) taking shots of the storm clouds over the red rocks.

image001

The weekend is almost here and all of Sedona is getting ready for the National Day of the Cowboy Celebrations including The Shops at Hyatt Pinon Pointe and Sound Bite Grill!

Sound Bites Grill located at the shops will be hosting an encore concert Saturday July 23rd with country western dance band featuring T.J. Broscoff from Austin, TX at 7:00 pm following a day of fun activities at the Shops at Hyatt Pinon Pointe . Their will be a Cover charge of $15 per person. Doors open in the showroom at 5:30 pm for dinner. You will want to grab your best partner, some cowboy boots or dancing shoes for this evening! For more information about the band or to make reservations call 928.282.2713 or visit www.soundbitesgrill.com

More About T.J. Broscoff

T.J. Broscoff is changing the direction of country music. Based in Austin, Texas, T. J. has taken his time to develop a musical style all his own—one part traditional country, one part alternative, one part folk—and it’s all good.

TJ was raised in the suburbs of a major metropolitan area in Texas that afforded him the opportunity to be surrounded by tons of music and tons of friends. Along with those came influences that masqueraded themselves as a good thing. Turns out that became an issue. TJ went years deep into a situation that no one plans on doing. An Arizona desert brought TJ to the realization that enough was enough and he has never looked back.
T. J. fuses traditional country twang into alternative rhythms to create his own sound—a sound critics and listeners enjoy. His first release “Ready to Fly” launched five songs into the top 30 of Texas music—quite a feat for a new performer! His lyrics—which often focus on putting the demons of addiction behind him—remind us that he is ready to move forward, propelled by the determination to be a class artist!f
