Bob Dylan turns 74 on May 24th and he’ll be celebrated in song at the 10th Annual Bob Dylan Birthday Concert on Friday, May 22nd and Saturday May 23rd, both at 7:00 pm, at the Old Town Center for the Arts in Cottonwood, AZ (see map below). “This concert has become a tradition for the Verde Valley and Sedona,” remarked William Eaton, co-director at Old Town Center for the Arts. “Each year there are some surprises, with some of your favorite Dylan tunes and some you may have never heard. Joe has done a fantastic job of producing this event.”

“It’s hard to believe that I’ve been putting on this tribute to Bob Dylan for ten years now,” says Joe Neri, the show’s producer. “Bob Dylan has been one of the most influential figures in American music and has endured for over 50 years. I’m continually amazed and appreciative of just how popular our annual tribute shows have become.”

This year’s program once again features some veterans of previous Dylan shows and some newbies, too. Some songs that will be performed are faithful to Dylan’s recorded arrangements while others have creative interpretations of other well known artists or from the performers themselves. Starlight Tours Return to the Verde Canyon Railroad

Starlight Tours at the Verde Canyon Railroad

2015 Tour Dates: May 30th, June 27th, July 25th, August 29th and September 12th

Grape Train Escape 510x337 Starlight Tours Return to the Verde Canyon RailroadAll Aboard! Verde Canyon Railroad has announced the return of their very popular Starlight Tours! The first tour of the season will take place on May 30th!

The Starlight tour offers you a totally different perspective of the Verde Canyon. The train departs the depot at 5:30 pm. As it rumbles through the Canyon, the low slant of sun bathes the high cliffs in soft golden hues and the wildlife that call the canyon home begin to stir as the cooler temperatures of the evening approach. I highly suggest visiting the open air cars often during the night journey into the canyon, especially when the train reaches its turn-around point at Perkinsville. The sun is usually setting around this time lighting the sky with a brilliant pallet of colors. On the ride back to the station enjoy the canvas of stars that blanket the canyon.

The Verde Canyon Railroad offers passengers two unique options for these magical evening rides:

  • The Grape Train Escape
During the Starlight Tours, “The Grape Train Escape” is only offered in first-class! Each Escape focuses on a select wine-producing region, and each vintage is paired with appetizers that complement the wine.
  • Tequila Sunset Limited
The Tequila Sunset Limited has evolved from south-of-the-border shots to sophisticated and sensual sipping of premium tequilas paired with delectable cheeses, Ceviche, Margarita cake and infused chocolate-covered peppers. This is just a sliver of the evening’s event, all prepared and served in first-class comfort.

For more information or to purchase passage aboard the Starlight tours please visit the Verde Canyon Railroad.  The Starlight Tours will take place on – May 30th, June 27th, July 25th, August 29th and September 12th! The Verde Canyon Railroad is located in Clarkdale, Arizona, only a 25 minute drive from Sedona. Other than Saturday Starlight Tours, trains depart at 1:00 pm. and return at 5:00 pm. Turquoise Gallery Visit the Galleries of Sedona and Jerome this WeekendTurquoise Tortoise Gallery is pleased to present their annual showcase for one of the gallery’s most accomplished artists. Tony Abeyta’s paintings are lauded by Contemporary art collectors as often as collectors of Native American art, and have great cross-over appeal; Tony Abeyta is Navajo and his heritage is a driving force behind his work yet his themes portrayed are universal. For collectors wishing to capture this newest direction of Abeyta’s ever-evolving artistry the gallery offers works such as “Moth,” a new mixed media triptych measuring 40” high and 90” wide. With a subtle palette of charcoal and walnut inks, both motion and life are presented; moths and flowers, wings and petals, light and dark. For more information please visit the Turquoise Tortoise Gallery.
