12th Annual Sedona Plein Air Festival
October 15th – 22nd, 2016Sedona-Plein-Air-Festival
This October the Sedona Arts Center presents a week-long celebration of Sedona’s extraordinary beauty as seen through the eyes and talent of 30 of the finest painters in the country. “En Plein Air”, a French term that translates to “in the open air”, describes paintings that have been created outdoors rather than in a studio. The spectacular red rock scenery and temperate climate of Sedona create the perfect location for plein air painting. The week long festival will feature these painters all over town,on the streets, trail-heads, creeks and vistas, capturing the beauty of the Sedona area on canvas. 17th Annual Rock, Gem and Jewelry Show

Don’t miss the 17th ANnual Rock, Game and Jewelry Show taking place at Sedona Red Rock High School. The show will feature over 40 vendors and jewelry artist. There will be displays of rocks and minerals from all over Arizona and the world. Red Rock High School is located at SR 89A and Upper Red Rock Loop Road, if you are a guest of the Best Western Plus Inn of Sedona we will drop you off and pick you up from this event in our Complimentary “About Town” Sedona Shuttle, available to all of our guests.

Red Rock State Park
Sedona Guided Full Moon Hike
October 15th, 2016 (5:00 pm)
Moonlight hikeThis will be the last Full Moon Hike for the year at Red Rock State Park. Led by a naturalist, this hike gives participants the rare opportunity to enjoy the sunset and moonrise from an overlook and return by the light of the moon, while learning about the natural history of Sedona. The hike lasts 2 – 2 1/2 hours and covers a distance of approximately two miles. A non-refundable $5.00 program fee per person is required to reserve your spot in the hike in addition to the regular entrance fees on the day of the hike. Participants are encouraged to arrive at the park approximately 30 minutes before the hike starting time to ensure participation. Children under 12 are discouraged from participating and children under seven are not permitted. Wear suitable clothing and closed-toed shoes. Bring water and a flashlight. Reservations are limited, so call early to reserve your spots (928.282-6907).

Guided Archaeology Hike
October 16, 2016 (1:00 pm)
The program is included with the park admission
RERO_ArchHikeRed Rock State Park has been a destination for Native Americans for several millennia. Most of the ancient features found in the park are from the Sinagua culture dating about 1100 to 1425 AD. Come and hear the fascinating story of the pre-Columbian people who lived and traveled in the park! The hike will identify the various archaeological features and interpret them into the wider context of important regional Sinagua sites. Explore ideas of other cultures that may likely have made use of the park’s resources. The hike will last about two hours, with an elevation gain of some 250 feet, along easy trails.
