You will find plenty of fun things to do this weekend; from Live Entertainment to the Sedona VegFest to a Guided Archaeology Hike. There is also the Sedona premiere of the award-winning documentary “13th” on Martin Luther King Day at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. The holiday weekend would be the perfect time visit Sedona and include a day trip up to the Grand Canyon with stops at National Monuments in Flagstaff along the way. In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr, entrance into National Park Service sites across the country will be free on Monday, January 16! meditation-CDEveryone is welcome to join the discussion and introduction to meditation and mindfulness with an expert meditation mentor including Sarah McLean, Devani Page, Eva Maurice, and Joy Nanda. Each week a different meditation is offered, including Loving Kindness Meditation, Mindfulness, Visualization, Breath Awareness, Body Appreciation, Chakra Meditation, or Gratitude Meditation. No experience is necessary to attend. Walk ins welcome, though you must arrive on time to participate and be 13 or older. $5 donation. This event takes place at the McLean Meditation Institute, 411 State Route 179 (at the junction of 179 & Schnebly Hill Road) in Sedona. The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to partner with Sedona Friends Committee on National Legislation, League of Women Voters Greater Verde Valley and Sedona International City of Peace to present the Sedona premiere of the award-winning documentary “13th” on Martin Luther King Day at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. The film is a Netflix documentary that takes a thorough look at how via an exploitable loophole in the 13th amendment legal slavery was converted to another method of slavery and punishment for “criminals”; i.e. mass incarceration. Mass incarceration is destroying the fabric of our society. Come and learn more about the facts and learn what you can do about it today.
