sedona shot 544The weekend is here and the sun will be shining today and Saturday in the red rocks!  Besides spending some time out in the rocks you might want to catch Michael Feinstein, who will wrap up the live concerts of the Sedona International Film Festival tonight at the Sedona Performing Arts Center!

Michael-Feinstein-teaserFive-time Grammy nominee Michael Feinstein will bring his Ira Gershwin Program and Great American Songbook to the Sedona International Film Festival in a special concert that celebrates Music in the Movies at the Sedona Performing Arts Center. Feinstein has built a dazzling career over the last three decades bringing the music of the Great American songbook to the world. From recordings that have earned him five Grammy Award nominations to his Emmy nominated PBS-TV specials, his acclaimed NPR series and concerts spanning the globe – in addition to his appearances at iconic venues such as The White House, Buckingham Palace, Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall and Sydney Opera House – his work as an educator and archivist define Feinstein as one of the most important musical forces of our time. Please note: No phone orders will be taken because all ticket buyers must select their seats at the time of purchase. All concertgoers must have a ticket for entry. Sedona International Film Festival passes and ticket packages will not provide concert access. This is a separate-ticketed event. Legends Of Guitar reaches a very broad audience given the diversity of artists it pays tribute to. People love guitar music and are fanatical about the bands they play in. This show features the technical skills of the greatest guitarists and the music from some of the biggest bands. This live event will take place at Sedona’s Sound Bites Grill. Red Rock State Park – Guided Bird Walk

HOME_653Bird enthusiasts can join a naturalist for a “Guided Bird Walk”. Beginning as well as advanced birders are welcome. Rangers recommend that visitors bring their own binoculars. A limited number are available for loan from the Park. No matter the time of day, visitors can check out the many birds who make Red Rock State Park their home. Guided Ethnobotany of Sedona Hike

Learning more about the native plants and trees here in the Sedona area is a great way to enhance any hike! Join Jim Charest as he explains how plants were used for various reasons by local indigenous cultures and by people in our contemporary times. This interpretive experience is for both the beginner and experienced hiker, lasting between 2-2 ½ hours with an elevation gain of 250 feet. Please bring water and wear suitable footwear. McLean Meditation Institute – Guided Meditation

Each week a different meditation is offered, including Loving Kindness Meditation, Mindfulness, Visualization, Breath Awareness, Body Appreciation, Chakra Meditation, or Gratitude Meditation. No experience is necessary to attend. Walk ins welcome, though you must arrive on time to participate and be 13 or older. $5 donation.
