Red Rock State Park – Guided Bird Walk

HOME_653Bird enthusiasts can join a naturalist for a “Guided Bird Walk”. Beginning as well as advanced birders are welcome. Rangers recommend that visitors bring their own binoculars. A limited number are available for loan from the Park. No matter the time of day, visitors can check out the many birds who make Red Rock State Park their home. The bird-feeding area behind the visitor center, on the Hummingbird Patio, is an excellent spot to start your tour or to take pictures.For more information on this Sedona hike please visit Red Rock State Park.

Sedona St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Are you ready for some St. Patty’s fun in the Red Rocks of Sedona this weekend? We are! Join in the fun at the 47th Annual St. Patrick’s Parade! The parade starts at 10:30 am from Jordan Historical Park and proceeds south on Jordan Road to Mesquite Avenue. US Congressmen Tom O’Halleran will be the Grand Marshal this year! The festivities this year are presented by the City of Sedona, NAU Parks and Recreation Management Program and the Sedona Green Team. If you are a guest at the Best Western PLUS Inn of Sedona and would like to attend this event, take advantage of our Complimentary ‘About Town” shuttle that will drop you off in Uptown Sedona for this event and pick you up when you are ready to return. Guided Geology Hike

Red Rock State ParkJoin Red Rock State Park’s knowledgeable volunteers as they venture out on their trails and discuss how Sedona transformed into what we see today. Red Rock State Park is located at the base of the Mogollon Rim, the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau. Over millions of years of erosion the rim has receded over four miles leaving behind the picturesque features of Sedona. This is an interpretive experience for both the beginner and experienced hiker, lasting between 2-2 ½ hours and an elevation gain of 250 feet. Please bring water and wear suitable footwear. McLean Meditation Institute – Guided Meditation

meditation-CDEveryone is welcome to join the discussion and introduction to meditation and mindfulness with an expert meditation mentor including Sarah McLean, Devani Page, Eva Maurice, and Joy Nanda. Each week a different meditation is offered, including Loving Kindness Meditation, Mindfulness, Visualization, Breath Awareness, Body Appreciation, Chakra Meditation, or Gratitude Meditation. No experience is necessary to attend. Walk ins welcome, though you must arrive on time to participate and be 13 or older. $5 donation. This event takes place at the McLean Meditation Institute, 411 State Route 179 (at the junction of 179 & Schnebly Hill Road) in Sedona.
