What a beautiful weekend to visit Sedona, Arizona! Sunshine and a high of 78° today, 75° Saturday and 67° on Sunday! Being out and about exploring the red rocks is definitely highly suggested!  Hiking is high on the list of fun things to this weekend especially since Red Rock State Park will be having both their Guided Moonlight Hike and their Guided Ethnobotany Hike this weekend! If you love history and historic homes then you will want to make sure to take a day trip up to Jerome for their 51st Annual Jerome Historic Home and Building Tour. And if your looking for some live music tonight to kick start your weekend The Sorrell Park Band will be live at Sound Bites Grill and Einsteins Missing Sons will be live at Olde Sedona Bar and Grill!

51st Annual Jerome Historic Home and Building Tour

Miners-ShackThe longest running home tour in Arizona boasts never-before seen historic and significant homes in this guided tour through the mile high town’s back streets. The Miner’s Shack at Casa Colibri will be shown. The tour takes visitors to The Gulch area of Jerome for the first time. Please note, the tour is NOT handicapped accessible. Guided Sedona Moonlight Hike

Moonlight hikeThe Moonlight Hike is among the most popular interpretive hike at Red Rock State Park. Led by a naturalist, it gives hikers the rare opportunity to enjoy the sunset and moon rise from an overlook and return by the light of the moon, while also having the chance to learn about Sedona and its surrounding areas. Verde Valley and park history, as well as archaeology, geology, botany, and riparian wildlife information, is also offered by a knowledgeable guide. The hike lasts two to 2 1/2 hours and covers a distance of approximately two miles. A $5.00 reservation fee is required as well as an entry fee upon arrival ($7.00 per adult (14 and up) $4.00 per youth (7 – 13), and free for children (0 – 6)). Rangers ask hikers to please arrive approximately 30 minutes before the starting time to insure participation. Program fees are non-refundable unless the park must cancel the hike after your arrival. Guided Ethnobotany of Sedona Hike

Learning more about the native plants and trees here in the Sedona area is a great way to enhance any hike! Join Jim Charest as he explains how plants were used for various reasons by local indigenous cultures and by people in our contemporary times. This interpretive experience is for both the beginner and experienced hiker, lasting between 2-2 ½ hours with an elevation gain of 250 feet. Please bring water and wear suitable footwear.
