This is a great weekend for getting your feet wet and taking a dip at Slide Rock State Park, early morning and sunset hikes (we strongly recommend not hiking in the heat of the day), and some family fun at the 24th Annual Cornfest Celebration in Camp Verde, AZ!

There will also be a Starlight Tour at the Verde Canyon Railroad, a great line up of live entertainment and even a very special day for your pooch at “Dog’s Day in the Park” at Posse Grounds Park. And YES, if you are a guest of our hotel and want to treat your special four legged friend to this event please jump on our complimentary “About Town” Shuttle for a ride to and from the park. Your pets are always welcome to ride!

24th Annual Cornfest Celebration (Camp Verde, AZ)

cornfestIf you love corn, live music, hot air balloons, games and family fun, you will not want to miss the 25th Annual Cornfest taking place in Camp Verde, AZ! (Camp Verde is located only 40 minutes from Sedona, AZ). For the past 25 years the Camp Verde Cornfest has celebrated the annual sweet corn crop produced on the banks of the Verde River by Hauser Farms. But the Cornfest has always been much more than that. It is a celebration of families and of summer. It is also a celebration of Camp Verde’s rich agricultural history and a celebration of what makes life in a small town so special. Festivities will take place in downtown Camp Verde from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Friday July 15th and from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm on Saturday July 16th. There will be plenty of fire roasted, hot buttered (if you choose) sweet corn to gnaw on, bags of corn to take home and a long list of lots of corny games and activities for the entire family.For more information please visit www.campverdepromotions.org.

The Verde Valley Archaeology Center is pleased to present a summer of free archaeology films on Friday evenings at 6:30 pm in June, July and August in Sedona and Camp Verde.The Sedona films are shown at the Sedona Public Library, 3250 White Bear Road. Dog’s Day in the Park

The city of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department cordially invites all animal lovers and dog owners to support their fifth annual, A Dog’s Day Out in the Park. This pet friendly event is being held on the multi-use field at Posse Grounds Park. This event is free for those interested in playing with their dogs on the beautiful grass field. Let them help you pamper your pooch with fun doggy stations. There will be free dog nail trimming, dog baths, dog brushing, and free dog licensing (with proof of rabies vaccination). There will be an “Off Leash” fenced in area with a kiddie pool for the dogs to play in as well. Bring a ball and have some fun with your dog. Parks and Recreation will be handing out free dog leashes to the first 50 dogs through the gate! Enjoy the green grass and pet friendly exhibitors with goodies for sale.
