Happy HummerHappy Friday! The weekend is here, and it is going to be a hummingbird kind of weekend in the red rocks of Sedona, AZ! The 5th Annual Sedona Hummingbird Festival headquartered at the Sedona Performing Arts Center, kicks off today and will continue into Sunday. Anthony Mazzella’s Guitar Legends Show will take place tonight at Sound Bites Grill and Throw the Temple will be live at Olde Sedona. If you are an early bird, head over to Red Rock State Park on Saturday morning at 7:00 am for a Guided Bird Walk and when you’re looking for some fun later in the day, dance your way to Sound Bites and take in some funky blues with the Sir Harrison Band. Sedona Hummingbird Festival

Sedona Hummingbird FestivalHummingbirds will be taking over the beautiful red rocks of Sedona during the 5th Annual Sedona Hummingbird Festival headquartered at the Sedona Performing Arts Center. Aimed at residents and visitors alike, the purpose of the festival is to teach about hummingbirds and work to protect the endangered species. Attendees come to learn about all things hummingbird. At the Performing Arts Center, there will be three days of presentations by world hummingbird experts on a variety of topics (tickets required), take the “Birds & Blooms” Hummingbird Garden Tours (ticketed event) watch and learn as individual birds are “banded” with unique identifying anklets for scientific research (free), and of course make sure to spend some time at the Hummingbird Marketplace (exhibitors and vendors area), held in the lobby of the Sedona Performing Arts Center (free). Anthony-Mazzella-posterLegends Of Guitar is a tribute show to famous guitar players and their music. The show features world renowned guitar virtuoso Anthony Mazzella who plays it all live. Legends Of Guitar reaches a very broad audience given the diversity of artists it pays tribute to. People love guitar music and are fanatical about the bands they play in. This show features the technical skills of the greatest guitarists and the music from some of the biggest bands. This live event will take place at Sedona’s Sound Bites Grill. Red Rock State Park – Guided Bird Walk

The program is included with the park admission
HOME_653Bird enthusiasts can join a naturalist for a “Guided Bird Walk”. Beginning as well as advanced birders are welcome. Rangers recommend that visitors bring their own binoculars. A limited number are available for loan from the Park. No matter the time of day, visitors can check out the many birds who make Red Rock State Park their home. The bird-feeding area behind the visitor center, on the Hummingbird Patio, is an excellent spot to start your tour or to take pictures.For more information on this Sedona hike please visit Red Rock State Park.

Sound-Bites-GrillSound Bites Grill is pleased to present the funky blues sound of the Sir Harrison Band! Harrison Begay was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, is full blooded Navajo (Dine’). His passion for blues music and the guitar have been the driving force in his quest for artistry. Sir Harrison’s music and stage performance has attracted a broad audience. His guitar playing is straight from the soul. He’s been compared to Albert Collins, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Cray, but Sir Harrison’s guitar playing has his own unique sound. Guided Meditation with Sarah McLean & expert meditation mentors
July 31st, 2016 (2:00 pm – 2:45 pm)
meditation-CDDuring the 45-minute program, simple meditation guidance is given–each week a different meditation is offered such as a Loving Kindness Meditation, Mindfulness, Visualization, Breath Awareness, or Gratitude Meditation. No experience is necessary to attend. Walk ins welcome, though you must arrive on time to participate and be 13 or older. $5 donation.
