Sedona Gallery AssociationVisit Sedona, Arizona this weekend and enjoy the talented creations of our local artists at  First Friday Evening in the Galleries!These special art receptions and exhibits give locals and Sedona visitors alike the opportunity to enjoy light refreshments while beginning their weekends with an exploration of Sedona’s exciting art scene. Below you will find a few of the exhibits and receptions taking place during this event, to see a full listing of participating galleries please visit the Sedona Gallery Association. For your convenience, the Sedona Trolley provides free transportation to venture from art gallery to art gallery. We also offer our guest free shuttle service to uptown Sedona and the Tlaquepaque Arts and Craft Village. All of the exhibits and artist receptions for 1st Friday run from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. On Saturday, make sure to head up to Jerome, Arizona for the Jerome Art Walk.

“The Independent Spirit of the Artist at Rowe Fine Art Gallery

During the Sedona Gallery Association’s 1st Friday Gallery Tour he will unveil the finished Native American figurative piece “White Buffalo Calf Woman” at Rowe Fine Art Gallery. While our country celebrates Independence Day, Rowe Gallery will pay tribute to the independent spirit of the artist with Ken’s first major figurative sculpture in nearly two decades. Art lovers have been following the progress of “White Buffalo Calf Woman” for more than a year, and everyone is excited to see the final bronze. During the SGA evening, meet Ken and learn more about the inspiration behind the sculpture as well as his belief that every artist should follow their own path.

Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village
“The West Lives On: Western Sculpture at its Best at Mountain Trails Gallery”
Mountain Trails Galleries, Suites A-201 & B-122 in Tlaquepaque, opens a new exhibition featuring two generations of western sculptors and friends celebrate Independence weekend with an exhibition of bronze and stone sculpture to commemorate the Old West: Vic Payne, Dustin Payne, Susan Kliewer, Michael Trcic, and Oreland C. Joe. Wildlife sculpture by Robert Deurloo, Jim Gilmore, Stefan Savides, and Sandy Scott will also be on exhibit. The gallery also introduces Wei Tai, one of the leading Chinese artists who spent 18 years developing his style of “East Meets West Impressionism.”

Goldenstein Gallery
“The Dog & Pony Show”
Join the Goldenstein Gallery for the opening reception of their 5th Annual “Dog and Pony Show,” an annual exhibition featuring artists who capture the splendor and personalities of these beautiful, playful and lovable animals. Among the accomplished painters are Jane Darrow and Lee Mitchelson whose paintings capture the inner essence of these radiant creatures, and award wining sculpture by Star York, Kevin McCarthy and Liz Wolf. All of these artists have spent years developing an intimate relationship with their subjects resulting in incredibly moving and sensitive images. In what has become an annual event Turquoise Tortoise Gallery celebrates its wide selection of jewelry in Traditional and Contemporary Southwest styles.What distinguishes the extensive collection at this 41-year-old Native American and Southwest gallery is that the gallery has many jewelers whom it has worked with for decades and, indeed, generations.
